Excuse the lag.

Our server has been a bit laggy lately. We’re not sure if it’s our host or some rogue process on the server itself, but we’re looking into the issue.

We’ll keep you posted.

Coburn’s Domain shot down again; Firewall choas ensues

For some odd reason, Coburn’s Domain has suffered yet another downtime event that occurred from 6:00PM on 19th October to 8:10AM on 20th October, AEST.

The issue was nothing related to the server, which is a relief. It was our network internet router, that does filtering and manages the internet connection.

The router itself entered a “lockdown” mode which meant that anything going out of the server would be allowed, but anything incoming would be rejected – that included website access requests.

Coburn’s Domain gets hit by Downtime again; Not our fault

Last night, around 10PM Australia Eastern Standard Time, Coburn’s Domain was down yet again. The cause of this was unknown. One of our watchmen, donttrythis, sent me a text message on my mobile regarding the site being down. Sleep deprived and almost falling asleep on the keyboard, I booted up my personal PC to see what the go was.

Coburn’s Domain 3: Back into the game

We’re back. Did you miss us?

I’ve just finished doing some database and server maintenance to ensure that the server is ready to take a beating in the upcoming months. In a nutshell (without the geeky details), I’ve cranked up the compression to make page load times shorter and took out the trash, rearranged databases and tidied up the place to make it more efficient.

This should be the last server maintenance in a while, unless something serious happens like a server break-in. Thanks for your patience.

Network Restructuring Underway

To keep Coburn’s Domain at peak capacity levels, I’ve had to do some network restructuring to ensure that the network has no bottlenecks. Should any “Page Timeout” or “Server Not Found” browser messages appear while attempting to visit the site or forums, don’t be alarmed. Simply wait a few minutes and try again, your request may have just been interrupted while I was rearranging network cables.

I’ll edit this post when there’s more info to tell you on the situation.

Update on the reduced capacity issue

I’ve just been reviewing the current settings on the Coburn’s Domain 3 Network configuration, and I’ve spotted that our Torrent Seedbox has been sapping way more bandwidth than it should, sapping 35Kb/s of our upload capacity instead of 6Kb/s. I’m going to kick the switch into full throttle again and see how it performs now.

Thanks for your patience while I sort this out.

Coburn’s Domain experiences Reduced Capacity issue

Coburn’s Domain is currently experiencing some bandwidth issues, and has been put in Reduced Capacity mode. This means that the server will still be running at it’s usual rate, but lag time may increase a little bit. We’ll be running a few diagnostic tests to see what’s causing the bandwidth issue, and we hope it’s nothing too serious.
