Turn your twitter timeline into 4 rolls of toilet paper with Sh*tter!

Credit to @Amon_RA from Twitter for finding this interesting new startup company.

Four developers, spread across Sydney (Australia, that is) and New York (USA) started a company called “Collector’s Edition”, a new-breed entertainment group that seems to craft nifty websites and services. This time, for a mere $35, they will turn your timeline (or maybe someone else’s timeline…) into 4 rolls of toilet paper, ready for your bidding. Can’t get much better than that, can it?

Down Down, MegaUpload is down… and Anon strikes back!

The people include Dotcom, Ortmann, chief marketing officer Finn Batao and developer Bram van der Kolk who are currently in New Zealand under custody. The FBI also worked with various country authorities such as New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, the UK and the Phillipines.

We’re back to normal.

We’ve resumed our normal operations, thanks to Obama killing SOPA for now (according to this Forbes article). While we were going to protest along with other sites like reddit, since this news has surfaced, we’ve called our protest against SOPA off.

SOPA is dead, but who knows what might happen yet – the debate (in the US) is still on the table, and we’ll keep you posted on any updates.

January 18th: Coburn’s Domain Blackout Edition

Simply put: On January 18th, from 8am to 8pm EST (US Time), Coburn’s Domain will be blacked out. Or censored, if you like. This will only last for the specified time frame, and we’ll be back after the time frame has passed.

Even though I (Coburn) am a Australian, when the Stop Online Piracy Act was announced, I knew that if that act was introduced into the online world, that the internet would be doomed.

Is it time for Darknet in America?

“Information is power” and that is true with the growth of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook on the Internet. These sites and others like them are fueling a revolution of uncensored information that otherwise wouldn’t be seen in traditional forms of media like print and broadcast

World leaders and governments are struggling to control the free flow of information that has overcome barriers such as international borders and censorship to unite communities around the world to common causes

Facebook’s Cookie & Tracking Woes – Another nail in FB’s coffin

Facebook has a cookie crisis. And that’s no joke. If you look at your browser’s cookie jar after loading any Facebook related things (ie. “Like” button, “Friends” HTML widget, etc), you’ll find heaps of cookies from Facebook’s domains (ie. 50+ cookies).

These little suckers have a two year expiry, and a normal Facebook logout doesn’t clear them apart from your login session cookie – you have to manually sweep them out via your browser’s cookie cleaner.

Mozilla Firefox 6: Taking Firefox to the next level.

Mozilla, the creator of the web browser, Firefox, are trigger happy with the release gun, and have released a beta of Firefox 6. This is the 2nd time Mozilla has push another version of major version of their web-browser this year.

Here at Coburn’s Domain, the geeks are testing this new update out, and what we’ve noticed is that so far that the “cold boot” of Firefox 6 is faster than Firefox 5, however, subquent loads of Firefox after it’s first run load much quicker – we like anything that’s faster than it’s older sister.

Firefox 5 goes Gold, improves areas that Firefox 4 left behind

Mozilla has just released Firefox 5 ahead of schedule, and to say the least, it’s faster than it’s older brother, Firefox 4.

While Firefox 3.6 is considered obsolete, Firefox 4 will be slowly phased out in favor for Firefox 5. Startup times are still not as fast as Google Chrome or Opera, but Firefox 5 is faster to start up after the initial “First Run”, but the browser also seems snappier.

Mozilla pumps out Firefox 5.0 beta editions, faster browsing and enhanced security

The Mozilla team have continued their efforts to improve the Firefox Web browser once again, with the Firefox 5.0 beta. This release aims to compete with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 that had been released a couple of months ago.

Mozilla encourages people who wish to take the plunge and test drive Firefox 5 to do so at the Firefox Beta download page. Please note that some addons will not work until the authors release Firefox 5-compatible versions of them.
