For a while now, we’ve been wanting a automatic system that would post a thread on our Message Forums and thanks to a WordPress plugin, we’ve just installed a Message Forum Sync feature. Everytime we make a new post here on the main page, it will automatically send Mia, our site bot, a message to make a new post in the specified forum category (which is the “Website Content Discussion” category).
This will allow visitors to view articles through the forums and also save bandwidth and time if the visitors are on slow connections. Read more...

Not too long ago, an Australian modchip supplier was supplying a device that allowed gamers to backup their legit game copies to internal or external USB devices and play them from there.
Unfortunately, the success the device has been shortlived. Sony recently demanded that all orders for this device to be cancelled, in which the manufacturers agreed to and promptly the modchip supplier refunded all the paid orders that were queued. Read more...
It’s been a tough four years for PS3 Owners wanting to play game backups on their beloved PS3, and when an email from a Modchip Supplier floated across our News Inbox, we thought we’d share it around.
OzModChips, an Australian modchip supplier is currently selling a limited number of “PlayStation Plug-n-Play Jailbreak” devices which, as the name suggests, jailbreaks your PlayStation 3 for use with game backups, while also allowing gamers to dump (legit owned) games to external HDDs or USB Devices and playing them directly off there. I’ve just been reviewing the current settings on the Coburn’s Domain 3 Network configuration, and I’ve spotted that our Torrent Seedbox has been sapping way more bandwidth than it should, sapping 35Kb/s of our upload capacity instead of 6Kb/s. I’m going to kick the switch into full throttle again and see how it performs now.
Coburn’s Domain is currently experiencing some bandwidth issues, and has been put in Reduced Capacity mode. This means that the server will still be running at it’s usual rate, but lag time may increase a little bit. We’ll be running a few diagnostic tests to see what’s causing the bandwidth issue, and we hope it’s nothing too serious.
Parts of the website affected include this main site and forums. However, since downtime will be kept to a minimum (if any at all), so there’s nothing to worry about (eg. getting booted off when the server goes down or anything like that). We’ll keep you posted on our diagnostic results.
Yesterday, like all self respecting gamers who have completely avoided /v/ for the massive influx of Scott Pilgrim: Hipster Bullshit Spam: The Movie, I went down to my local cinema to catch a showing of the movie adaptation of the indie graphic novel series “Scott Pilgrim.” However I went to a midday showing, and much to my surprise, there was a sheer lack of gamers, hipsters too. The audience I witnessed lining up to see the movie was middle aged men and woman and their children. Anybody who has heard of Scott Pilgrim will know that the series is just another metaphor for society, except for the fact that it is completely jam packed to the brim with video game references. While the book did a great job making tons of tongue-in-cheek humor about video game elements being a part of the real world, the movie does a fantastic job of bringing these fantasies to life. From the extremely well choreographed fighting sequences, to the simple act having a “pee meter” on the corner of the screen slowly drain while Scott relieves himself in a bathroom. The movie did an excellent job of making the video game elements seamlessly intertwine with the real world to create a fantastic viewing experience. The whole time I was watching, I couldn’t help but plaster a smile all over my face seeing the glow of nostalgia in the middle aged parents eyes as they watched the movie, at one point I even heard a guy whisper to his son that when he was his age enemies in one of his favorite childhood games “River City Ransom” enemies dropped coins and exclaimed “BARF!” in a very similar way to how it is presented in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I could easily tell there were a lot of people who a fair amount of references passed right by, but the common place mainstream video game references such as gaining an extra life and leveling up has everybody cracking a smile and enjoying themselves. As with all book to movie adaptations, there will always have to be some content cut out, and considering the Scott Pilgrim series spans six books, the screenplay writers really had their work cut out for them, turning them all into one two hour film. They did a very good job with it though, they got most of the key elements in, kept in a lot of the great jokes, and made time for all of the action and musical sequences performed by the video game named bands in the series such as Scott’s own “Sex Bob-omb,” Envy Adams huge indie band “The Clash at Demonhead,” and the titular “Crash and The Boys,” composed of, well, Crash and The Boys. The movie has very fast pacing, so there is never a dull moment when you are watching the movie and it will grasp your attention like a starving hobo trying to shank you on that one street corner by your favorite coffee shop. That’s not the point though, all-in-all Scott Pilgrim vs. The World does a fantastic job at gartering the attention of anybody who wants to just see a whimsical romance tale full of humor and action, as well as the gaming aficionado who will go and have a great time just noticing the amazing attention to detail with all the little references. The movie does a great job at bringing the series to the masses in a way everybody can enjoy and have a fun time watching, I would highly recommend everybody go and take their families to go see it together. The long-awaited installment in the Sonic Wii game series has almost arrived, with Sega doing the honors of releasing a teaser trailer, along with a expected release date.
Rated E for Everyone, with ESRB’s rating of “Cartoon Violence”, the offical Sega trailer looks very promising indeed. Despite the epic failure of the 2006 Xbox 360 and PS3 bug-riddled Sonic the Hedgehog game, Sonic Colors may be the antidote to Sega’s bad Sonic game track record. The trailer can be seen below:
A torrent posted on BitTorrent Search Engines has revealed the identification of users after over 100 million peoples’ profiles were scanned and mined for personal data, and compiled into database form.
And it’s not just a proof of concept attack. Big companies, such as Apple, AT&T, HP and Intel just to name a few are accessing that leaked data, most likely for advertisement and “research” purposes.
This would have to be one of the biggest security threats in Facebook history, as the data also contained addresses, phone numbers and names that could reveal the locations and whereabouts of these users. Some of these companies that are most likely to exploit this data are: Read more...
Black Rock Shooter’s bikini-clad heroine makes a epic return in the form of a 55-minute long OVA. The Original Video Animation is a continuation on the actual Black Rock Shooter song sung by Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku. While originally crowned as the “alter ego” of Miku, the heroine has a eye that bursts into flames when enraged, and also carries a sword. Some fans have also raised an eyebrow as to the hair style, which is somewhat similar to Azusa from K-ON’s twin-tail hair style. Read more...
