3DS Homebrew Update: Homebrew runs via Serial I/O, apparently.
According to a hacker under the nickname of “MSaki” on our IRC channel, who chimed in to say that unauthorised (aka homebrew) binaries have been successfully running on the Nintendo 3DS, homebrew has seen the light on the supposedly locked-down console.
We cannot confirm if the guide is genuine, as we don’t have a test Nintendo 3DS to try it on.
Coburn’s Domain acquires a DreamPlug; “It’s a plug computer on steroids!”
Spinifex Computing is the australian reseller of the DreamPlug. What’s a DreamPlug you ask? Well, basically it’s a SheevaPlug on steroids, manufactured by GlobalScale. It has dual gigabit LAN Ports, WiFi, BlueTooth 2.1 (plus EDR), Twin USB 2.0 Ports, Optical Audio Out, the standard 3.5″ audio jacks, a SD Card slot and eSATA.
Meet the iPad: The most dangerous airplane device
EDIT: Image removed due to some viewers complaints – Sorry.
Our friends over at TechCrunch have recently published an article about the Apple iPad (the 2010 model known as the iPad 1 and the iPad 2 (2011 model)) causing unwanted interference with certain airplanes, potentially putting your life and others at risk. The iPad has also been labeled as the “Most dangerous airplane device”.
Coburn’s Domain launches Nintendo 3DS Hacking Wiki; let’s hack that Nintendo 3DS
The Nintendo 3DS Hacking Wiki is a wiki deciated to portable freedom on the recently released Nintendo 3DS. By portable freedom, we mean, custom software (also known as homebrew) running on the 3DS, such as console emulation, movie players, system software mods and 3DS Linux, just to name a few.
The 3DS Hacking Wiki can be found here, at http://3ds.coburndomain.net. Of course, it’ll be a slow start, but if we all pitch in and help out, before we know it, we’ll have homebrew running on our 3DS consoles. See you there!
Project Café: Nintendo’s next-gen console details leaked, surprise in store
As posted on the Emuparadise message forums under the user of lizard81288, some details of Nintendo’s upcoming console-to-end-all-consoles have surfaced. Of course, Coburn’s Domain can’t confirm if these specifications are authentic, but we’ll try to confirm them. Here’s the skinny (with commentary):
A new report from French technology website 01net says that the recently rumored Nintendo HD platform is currently codenamed Project Cafe. The site, which leaked NGP specs before its announcement, claims to have tech specs and controller details for the console.
Video Follow-up on the Nintendo 3DS Hands-on
We’ve uploaded the videos to our server, showing off the Nintendo 3DS as per the last article we published yesterday. The first video shows off the consoles’ features. Do note the “Development” text on the back of the unit.
The second video is a recording of the game that the 3DS was running, which was Nintendogs + Cats. Includes the issue when the 3DS unit froze on us. Sorry about the robot-like voice – blame our camera for that.
Australian Nintendo 3DS Booth Event: Hands-on by Coburn’s Domain
At a recent Top Gear Live event that our IT reporter, donttrythis and myself attended, we got a demo of the Nintendo 3DS running a demo of Nintendogs + cats. We “patted” them in-game, which after some time, the 3DS itself crashed. Oops.
iPad 2.0 rumors spread like wildfire, but will it be the successor to the current “magical” iPad?
Apple has been caught in the rumor spotlight recently about the iPad getting a upgrade, and according to an article over at Tom’s Guide, an unnamed source has leaked some details for the 2nd generation iPad.
While the current 1st generation iPad (in it’s 3G and WiFi forms) took some heavy criticism at it’s launch, and not to mention the bad female “pad” jokes that followed soon after, the 2nd generation iPad could have a new overall design.
