Hoshi Anime, run by a user on Twitter called @kyonkun, has been kind enough to link back to Coburn’s Domain. Not only that, Hoshi Anime is offering streaming anime episodes on-demand.
That means if you miss out on your weekly dose of your favorite anime series, just jump on Hoshi Anime and watch your missed episode, without having to wait until it’s on TV. The site aims to provide the best anime viewing experience, like an anime library. Each series page has got a single player with a preset playlist, not only to reduce clutter but to save having a page for every single episode. Read more...

K-ON! Fans may find it slightly amusing that Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid friends make an appearance in a fan-made opening for the K-ON Anime. While it may not your average cup-of-tea (figure of speech), we can’t help but be amused as to how well it was pulled off, and what’s with the random steamroller?

Not too long ago, Karl Ostmo, the author of Droidful and Kanji Tutor, released an Android application that allows anyone to make their own anime characters.
The program is based on an exisiting generator for Microsoft Windows. The problem is that the Windows generator is in Japanese and no known translation exists for it.
This application does everything the windows generator does, and also allows users to save generated characters as PNG files. Users can change the gender of the character (Male/Female), change clothes, hair styles and lots more. There is even a random character generator feature in case users want a random character generated. The possibilities are endless. Read more...

Droidful has recently released a Android application that allows users to find out what Japanese text says when they are traveling in Japan without a translator, watching anime with subtitles disabled, or just browsing Japanese websites. Not only is it a great tool to find out what that random japanese text says, but users can also take quizzes to make sure their Kanji knowledge is up to date.
The application is in the Android Market, for a low price of $2.49 under the name of “Kanji Tutor”. The android market description is as follows:

Some Japanese anime/moe character fans have built a desktop pack for Ubuntu (called Moebuntu), transforming the bland “Coffee Brown” appearance into something more appealing. Everything is customised, including title bars, colors, icons, sound sets, and the works. This pack would be perfect for people with female friends that are also into anime, or people who want a change from the generic themes. All Ubuntu software packages still work as the pack uses an installed copy of Ubuntu to achieve the desired effects. Read more...

Black Rock Shooter’s bikini-clad heroine makes a epic return in the form of a 55-minute long OVA. The Original Video Animation is a continuation on the actual Black Rock Shooter song sung by Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku. While originally crowned as the “alter ego” of Miku, the heroine has a eye that bursts into flames when enraged, and also carries a sword. Some fans have also raised an eyebrow as to the hair style, which is somewhat similar to Azusa from K-ON’s twin-tail hair style. Read more...

CoalGuys has released their subbed version of K-ON!! Season 2, Episode 16. Once again, CoalGuys have done a great job at translating and subtitling the episode. You can download the episode over at the CoalGuys’ website which is located here.
On a related note, Frostii seems to have picked up their game and they have also subbed episode 13 to 15 of the same anime. While CoalGuys is a quick translation team, Frostii had a delay as the translators where on holidays, possibly attending to other matters. None the less, both translation teams will keep fans happy of the mentioned anime series. Watchers can disable subtitles in their media players (Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic, MPlayer, VLC, etc) if they don’t want to see what the characters are saying.

Anime, Manga and Gaming (not to mention sometimes not-safe-for-work) Blog Sankaku Complex has been quietly slipped in the Google Blacklist of words, thus as an result, being removed from search results in the mentioned search engine’s auto-complete features and the system is slowing removing results from the search results for the “Sankaku Complex” term.
However, Google doesn’t seem likely to release details as to why the site has been censored from search results. This has also happened to some other websites, which involve content that is inappropriate to list here. There is also some debate over the censoring of certain words in some languages, while a innocent-looking word can be censored when a non-family safe word slips through the so-called “SafeSearch” filter. It is even worth noting that websites with porn content may not be censored from “SafeSearch” enabled searches. Read more...
